In 2011, the Village celebrated the 125th year of incorporation and one of the goals of the Quasquicentennial Committee was to leave a celebratory gift to the Village that would be enjoyed by future generations. Thus, a Legacy Committee was formed to solicit funds and select a meaningful and appropriate gift. At the 2011 Christmas Walk and the closing of the 125th celebratory year, the Committee presented to the Village a proposed concept (see picture below) to enhance the historic Water Tower. The Legacy Committee formed a partnership with the Village where Village funds would replace and revitalize the stairs and widen the walkway and the Legacy Gift Campaign would fund the seat walls, decorative brick edging and a bronze medallion honoring the Quasquicentennial year. The Village finished the reconstruction of the stairs and walkway in December, 2012 (see before and after pictures below) and now the remaining work will be completed with funds from the Legacy Gift Campaign.
Join the Campaign
Fresh ideas and new visions are needed for funding. Please consider adding your enthusiasm and creativity to the campaign. Contant Janet Dahl by email, if you are interested in joining the committee. If you have never volunteered in the Village, it is an excellent way to meet people, exchange ideas and put down roots.
The Legacy Fund
Through generous contributions from businesses and citizens, the Legacy Gift Campaign has raised over $47,000 as of December 31, 2012. Thank you to all donors who have made contributions; however, more funds are needed in order to complete the legacy gift. Donations are still being accepted. If you have not had the opportunity to donate, please do so using the donation form below. Background information related to the campaign is available through the links below.
