2018 Roadway Program

Johnson Avenue (47th to Burlington) and Lawn Avenue (Burlington to Elm) will be reconstructed in concrete in 2018. Post Office Drive (Lawn to Heartland Bank Parking Lot) will be resurfaced in asphalt.

This project will include the following components:

  • Complete removal of the existing roadway
  • Installation of new concrete roadway pavement, curb, and gutters
  • Repairs to existing sewer main
  • Removal and replacement of private walkways unless residents request otherwise
  • Driveway aprons will be removed and replaced to meet Village Code with standard concrete
  • Crosswalks within the scope of the project will be reconstructed to meet ADA standard
  • Streetscape Improvements on Lawn Avenue (Presentation below)

Lawn Avenue Streetscape Improvements

The reconstruction of Lawn Avenue allows the Village the opportunity to begin pedestrian streetscape improvements in the central business district. The Village developed the 2011 Downtown Redevelopment Plan and the 2016 Downtown Revitalization Refinement Project as guides to choosing the aesthetic of the future downtown. The project is first and foremost a maintenance driven project. However, new curblines, parking structures, pedestrian walkways, and landscaping elements will be included. Foundations for future benches, raised planters, irrigation and a kiosk will be installed as well during this project.
