Irrigation/Sprinkler System Ban and Water Conservation Reminder (Updated 8/5/19 @ 4:00PM)

Update 8/5/19 @4:00PM: Historically, the Village allows the watering of new sod and plantings during periods of water conservation, and will continue to do so in this case. Please be conscious to try and conserve water wherever possible in these instances.

This is a reminder that the use of irrigation and sprinkler systems is prohibited while maintenance on Well #3 occurs. Conserving water at this time will drastically reduce the need for Well #1 while maintenance on Well #3 is occurring. Well #1, the Village's shallow well, contains higher hardness and iron levels, which may change the taste and appearance of the drinking water. The more water being used by residents and businesses increases the need to draw water from Well #1. Water demand over the weekend showed little decrease compared to staff projections. Most irrigation systems are automated, so please review them and make sure they have been deactivated. Village staff will be issuing door hangers on any home that continues to water with irrigation or sprinkler systems. Repeated notices may result in citations (Municipal Code 8-5-6).
